Macau Government Tourist Office

About us

The Macau Government Tourist Office referred to as MGTO, is a service charged with pursuing the overall goals defined for the Territory's tourism Sector.

A Director who is assisted by two Deputy Directors leads the MGTO. In the chase of its duties, MGTO has 5 sub-divisions. They are: Licensing and Inspections Department; Promotion & Marketing Department; Product Development & Special Projects Department; Research and Planning Department and Administrative and Finance Division.

MGTO also has under its auspices the Tourism Activities Center abbreviated to CAT, which is equivalent to a division. CAT is responsible for promoting and supporting meetings, exhibition festivals and other events of tourist interest.

Within the scope of the MGTO, there is a Tourism Fund that is regulated by separate legislation. Under the Administrative and Finance Division, there is a Tourism Fund Support Sector, which is responsible for preparing the proposal for the Tourism Fund's independent budget and producing the accounts for the Tourism Fund.

Macau is a unique destination that preserves a multi-cultural heritage alongside state-of the art tourist facilities and a full calendar of festivals, sports competitions and special events all year around.

To have a good link with the world in promoting Macau's tourism, MGTO has set up 17 marketing or public relations representatives all around the globe, including Mainland China; Hong Kong, China; Taiwan, China; Japan; South Korea; Malaysia; Philippines; Singapore; Thailand; Indonesia; India; Australia; New Zealand; United States of America; Belgium; German-Speaking Markets; United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland; Portugal.

The new website shows how important China sees Australia in attracting international visitors to not only the mainland but thriving the Special Administrative Region such as Macau,” Helen Wong, general manager of the Macau Government Tourist Office (Australia and New Zealand).
