Foshan
Found in the Pearl River Delta, Foshan is located 20 kms from Guangzhou. A trade hub and vital link between Guangzhou in the east, and Hong Kong and Macau in the south, Foshan’s name is derived from the three Buddha statues found in this area during the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
Spend your time shopping in the many malls on Zu Miao Street, whilst enjoying Cantonese food in its fantastic restaurants.
One of China's most important towns for ceramic production, Shiwan is a pottery aficionado's heaven. Located only 45 minutes drive from Foshan, it is on the must do list if you are in the area.
In a town built on ceramics, Nanfeng Ancient Kiln is considered the zenith of pottery production. The building contains two dragon kilns from the Ming Dynasty that are over 30m in length and are reputedly to have never been extinguished in their 500 year history.
